On Black Friday, Goose Island samples out its Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout, a limited-release brew that’s been aged in bourbon barrels for two years. 10 AM, Goose Island Brewpub, 1800 N. Clybourn, 312-915-0071.

About a dozen breweries, including Goose Island and Spanish brewer Estrella Damm, are represented at tonight’s Holiday Craft Beer Tasting. The beer’s accompanied by passed pintxos like chard fritters with lemon caper aioli and cured duck breast on apple toast with candied pumpkin, as well as an autumn vegetable paella. 6 PM, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, 2024 N. For the 15th year, Webster’s hosts a champagne tasting, with plans to sample about 30 bottles tonight, all from France. 7:30 PM, Webster Wine Bar, 1480 W. Webster, 773-868-0608, $50.

Former AREA Chicago editor Daniel Tucker discusses and signs his new book Farm Together Now: a Portrait of People, Places, and Ideas for a New Food Movement, a "part-travelogue, part-oral history" about farming, food politics, and sustainability. In the book, Tucker and coauthor Amy Franceschini profile 20 sustainable farms throughout the country; a few local subjects, including reps from Angelic Organics Learning Center and On the Fly Farms, will join tonight’s discussion, which is part of Downtown Farmstand’s Culinary Conversations series.
