Things perk up quite a bit shopping-wise this weekend. Tonight, local line Crescendo Apparel offers a preview of the spring collection from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at Supreme Fabrics, 2156 W. Huron. "Doctor of Closetology" Jackie Walker and makeup artist Sonia Roselli speak, and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be available. A $20 donation goes to the Today's Chicago Woman Foundation; click here for tickets and more info.

Tonight from 6 to 9 PM, The Denim Lounge (2004 W. Roscoe) hosts a women's only Girls' Night Out with G Boutique and Lush Wine and Spirits. There'll be wine tastings, mini-seminars on sex toys and lingerie, a discount of 20 percent on Denim Lounge merchandise. RSVP to

The Cynthia Rowley sample sale, which runs Thursday through Saturday, 11 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday from noon to 5 at the designer's Lincoln Park store (810 W. Armitage), has designs, accessories, samples, and fall items at up to 80 percent off.

Jewelry designer Peggy Skemp's anatomically-inspired designs will be featured at her trunk show at Florodora (330 S. Dearborn) on Friday. Skemp will be there from 11 AM to 7 PM and sweets from the store's new neighbor, Confection Connection, will be served.

Friday through Sunday, Robin Richman (2108 N. Damen) offers 15 percent off on all jewelry.

On Saturday and Sunday, raid the closets of people with more and nicer clothes than you at the professional closet-cleaning service Luxury Garage Sale's big shopping event. The event features "inventory from some of the most sought-after fashionista's closets in Chicago," including designer, contemporary, and vintage clothes and accessories—with plenty of affordable items. A percentage of the proceeds goes to Dress for Success. It's at Galleria Unico, 1936 W. Division St., 2nd floor, and runs from 10:30 to 5:30 both days.

Clothing swaps are a fun, cost-effective, and even environmentally-friendly way to perk up your wardrobe—but not when all the clothes are too small for you. Stephanie Sack of plus-size boutique Vive la Femme and tall-girl shoe designer Kathryn Kerrigan fill the gap with the Gold & the Beautiful, a clothing swap for women size 12 and up. It's just clothing—no shoes or accessories, and "no bad attitude." Blogger Jessica Jarchow of Tangled Up in Lace performs hostess duties. It's Sunday from 5 to 10 PM at Kerrigan's boutique, 2031 N. Damen.
