Chicago Symphony Orchestra music director Riccardo Muti has had a pacemaker implanted, the CSO reported in an announcement released this afternoon. According to the joint statement by CSO officials and Muti's doctors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a "heart rhythm disturbance" necessitated the surgery and the maestro, hospitalized since he fainted during a rehearsal February 3, is recovering.
