This week Ben Sachs considers the brave new sucky world of movies released to multiplexes but more appropriate for the little window on your iPhone. Case in point: Insidious, the latest horror flick from the guys who gave you Saw (director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell). We also have Critic's Choice boxes for Source Code, the latest from sci-fi whiz Duncan Jones (Moon), and Undertow, a Peruvian drama about a man pining for his dead lover.

The Chicago Latino Film Festival opens this weekend, and we have reviews of six notable features in our sidebar. Albert Williams reviews Surrogate Valentine, the opening-night program of the Asian American Showcase. And there are new reviews for Desert Flower, a biopic of Somalian fashion model and human rights activist Waris Dirie; Sucker Punch, a girl-power action fantasy from 300 director Zack Snyder; Trust, the latest directorial effort from David Schwimmer; and Winter in Wartime, a Dutch drama about a boy coming of age amid the Nazi occupation.

Best bets for repertory this week: Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes (1938), Wednesday at Doc Films; Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980), with midnight shows Friday and Saturday at Music Box; Robert Mulligan's To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Sunday afternoon at Beverly Arts Center; and Jafar Panahi's The White Balloon (1995), Thursday night at Doc.

Trailers follow after the jump.
