Natalie Slater, who writes the blog Bake and Destroy, is now accepting entries for SugarSlam 2011, "Whisks of Fury," a WWE-themed online baking challenge. According to the rules posted on the website, it's "open to ALL baked goods—cookies, cakes, brownies, muffins, bread . . . sweet, savory—I don’t care. If you bake it, it counts." To enter, send up to five photos of your wrestling-themed baked good with a title and short description of the entry to SugarSlam2001@gmail.com by Monday, July 11. Slater adds that contestants "are TOTALLY welcome to make a WWE-style promo video talking about why your entry is going to win and the others suck."
She's lined up a number of sponsors and will be offering prizes including one-year ownership of the SugarSlam World Championship belt, a Kenmore stand mixer, and a $100 gift certificate from Threadless. The judges—who will primarily be looking for creativity—are former WWE women’s champion Beth Phoenix; writer and musician Mike Edison, author of I Have Fun Everywhere I Go; and Moto pastry chef extraordinaire Ben Roche. There will be both a champion and a people's choice winner.
