Each week we ask you to show us something. This week it's Sebastian Babel's MOPED COLLECTION. Got something to show us? firstname.lastname@example.org
Babel admits that his rented garage space in Logan Square is by no means organized in the most orderly fashion. Random tools, wheels, parts, and frames are scattered about, along with a few road and mountain bikes, a scooter, and, oh yeah, around ten mopeds, including a pair of slick 50 CC Puch Sabre motorcycles, which are basically beefed-up versions of mopeds.
Babel, an IT consultant by day, spends about 20 hours a week toiling away on a collection that, aside from the Sabres, includes a pair of Puch Maxis, two Motobecanes, two Puch Free Spirits, a Honda Hobbit, a Sparta Foxi, and a custom-built top-tank bike that he has appropriately nicknamed the "Bonerbuster."
Though the collection isn't all his—his friends, family, and girlfriend are all storing bikes—he still curses and revels in the number of motorized two-wheelers he's housing. "I got into mopeds as a cheap way to get around Chicago during college. Now, it's become a small obsession."
