Jorge Perrugoria and Vladimir Cruz, who costarred in Tomas Gutierrez Alea's 1994 gay love story Strawberry and Chocolate, wrote, directed, and star in the Cuban psychological drama Afinidades, based on Reynaldo Montero’s novel Musica de Camara.
"We are only trying to meditate about the human being and their complexities, facing emptiness and the lack of rational explanation for many of the problems of the contemporary world, sometimes appearing that the only way out is to take refuge in instincts," Cruz said on the film's release last year. "Those instincts lead to sex."
