Tomorrow, Mrs. Fields Cookies will celebrate the opening of a new downtown location at 242 S. State by giving out free cookies and 16-ounce lattes (choose one or the other) between 7 AM and 9 PM. Other grand opening festivities include a ribbon-cutting and performance by local guitarist Frank Sergi. Discounts continue through opening weekend with 99-cent cookies and lattes until Monday.
The concept store on State is the company’s fifth location in Chicago proper, but the first in the country to sell a new line of specialty coffee drinks. The new store will also open at 7 AM on weekdays to serve the Loop crowd on their way to work. But fear not—although the new drinks will tap into the breakfast market, they’ll preserve the company’s dessert-centric identity with flavors reminiscent of signature cookies, including snickerdoodle, milk chocolate chip, and macadamia nut. Now all we can hope for are cookie-flavored martinis.
