Last month details about the major runway shows that will take place as part of Fashion Focus were announced, and now the city has released details about the accompanying trunk shows, individual designer presentations, and shopping events that will happen during the week. Contrary to fears that the event would be gutted due to budget concerns (although many events require paid admission), there's a lot to do and see, but so far, a full schedule is still not available online.
Happily, Dress Code—the show dedicated to designs by students from area fashion programs—is back, having been moved to the Chicago History Museum. Local designers showing their work include women's clothing designer Anna Fong, jewelry designer Ellie Thompson, and accessories designer Alice Berry, as well as some less familiar names, including Britney Devaris of Porta Turchese, Sharon Boucher, and Dana Killion. There are also several events in conjunction with the opening of the exhibit Charles James: Genius Deconstructed at the Chicago History Museum, which celebrates one of the few American designers to work in the true haute couture tradition.
