Augie March-inspired flash fiction contest

  • Editor B
The Chicago Public Library and DePaul University's English department are cohosting a flash fiction writing contest in conjunction with CPL's One Book, One Chicago selection, Saul Bellow's 1953 novel The Adventures of Augie March. You're qualified to enter if you think you can write the Great American Novel in 750 words or less—that's the prompt—and if you're not a current or former student, or friend, of MacArthur genius Stuart Dybek, who is the contest's judge. Stories must be set in and inspired by Chicago. Winners read their work at an October event at Stop Smiling, and have their stories published in a forthcoming issue of the Chicagoan.
