Artist and stylish guy J.C. Steinbrunner unveils new paintings inspired by such disparate people, places, and things as Albert Bierstadt, Tiffany & Co., Caspar David Friedrich, electron microscopes, Tahrir Square and the British Royal Navy. The reception is tonight from 6 to 8 PM at the Mark Shale Project Space, on the third and fourth floors of 900 N. Michigan.
Also tonight, Lincoln Park boutique Comfort Me, 651 W. Armitage, holds a party to preview fall styles from 7 to 9 PM. A portion of the proceeds from the evening go to Bright Pink, a non-profit organization that supports young women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
Now that the city is going to have its own bike-sharing program, even more people will need practical yet stylish bike-friendly bags. Just in time, Florodora, 330 S. Dearborn, is hosting a trunk show for Po Campo bike bags on Friday from noon to 6 PM and the entire collection will be available for sale.
Saturday is also the day for the first annual Fashion Fetish Fete, an awards ceremony and runway show honoring local fashion companies, designers and figures for their humanitarian activities.Tickets are $35 to $50 and help fund the veteran services offered by the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. It starts at 6 PM for VIPs, 7 for non-VIPs, and goes til 10 at the Park West.
Sunday brings another Dose Market, where this time the fashionable offerings are from Kingsley Handbags, Penelope's, and Anke Loh, among others. Food and housewares are also part of the mix. It's from 10 AM to 4 PM at River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois.
