On Sunday from 4 to 8 PM the Green City Market Junior Board is hosting a fund-raiser, Masquerade del Mercado, at Carnivale. There's an impressive roster of chefs, all but one of them past participants in our Key Ingredient chef's challenge: Carnivale's David Dworshak, Old Town Social's Jared Van Camp, Sprout's Dale Levitski, the Bedford's Mark Steuer, Nightwood's Jason Vincent, Leopold's Jeffrey Hedin, Small Bar's Justin White, Patrick Sheerin of the forthcoming Trenchermen, and Greg Biggers of Cafe des Architectes. Choo Lipsky of MorSo, Clint Rogers of the Gage and Henri, and Sarah Busen of Tiny Lounge will be mixing up cocktails made with Death's Door spirits; Goose Island brewmaster Jared Rouben will provide the beer, Tenzing Wines the vino.
There will also be a costume contest, with the prize for the best a dinner for two at GT Fish & Oyster. And, in addition to GCM's online auction, which runs through Saturday, there will be a live drawing for prizes including the Bucktown Package (fried chicken dinner for six at the Southern, plus a makeover), the Goat Package (a bottle of Stephanie Izard's Goat Bandit bourbon, a signed copy of her new cookbook Girl in the Kitchen, and a Girl & the Goat limited-edition T-shirt), and the Lincoln Square Package (gift certificates to Browntrout and Bistro Campagne, two tickets to a champagne event at Fine Wine Brokers, and a personalized cocktail featured on the menu at Tiny Lounge).
Admission is $65 or $90, the latter of which includes ten tickets for the drawing, which go for $5 per, or ten for $25. General admission tix are available at brownpapertickets.com.
