- The Stiletto Asymmetrical Sandal from Lanvin, only $995.
Don't say Oak Street hasn't kept its cachet: According to Racked Chicago,
French design house Lanvin
is coming, taking over the space once home to legendary boutique Ultimo. The label—which dates back to 1887, when Jeanne Lanvin opened a millinery shop in Paris—has gained new life and a new generation of fans since the 2001 appointment of Alber Elbaz as creative director. While the only way most of us will ever be able to afford a Lanvin piece is to hope for more collaborations with fast-fashion retailers
, its presence will burnish Oak Street along with the city's reputation as a worthy shopping destination.
