You probably already know about Frankie Rose: the Brooklyn hipster princess played drums in some of the buzziest buzz bands of the mid-to-late aughts (Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls, Crystal Stilts) before stepping out from behind the kit last year to front Frankie Rose & the Outs. But though the first Outs record had some excellent moments, it sounded like what it was: a drummer finding herself as a front woman. The songs were hit or miss and stylistically all over the place. But the first single from her upcoming second solo LP, Interstellar (Slumberland), shows a whole lot of promise.

Today's 12 O'Clock Track, "Know Me," is a dreamy jam that blends bits of the Smiths and 80s Bowie; Rose's vocal harmonies in the chorus are pure pop perfection. Once the song is over, I keep hitting the play button again, and I bet you'll be tempted too. You know that feeling you get when you reach the bottom of your Tastee-Freez soft-serve cone—that slight sadness where you just wish you had a couple more bites? That's the way I feel when "Know Me" wraps up. This is like ice cream—gimme more.
