"There's too much material in Chicago," one Onion writer told us. "With your mayor, the aldermen, and the Cubs, it's just not enough of a challenge."
The paper will still mainly be satirizing national topics after the move here is made. But Onion writers apparently fear their funny bones will be dulled by the city's burlesque nature. "You peddled your parking rights for a nickel, right?" an Onion writer asked me. "Your former mayor bulldozed one of your airports in the middle of the night, yes? It makes a satirist flabby to be around such stuff 24-7."
