- Worth a splurge: the 11th annual Driehaus Awards for Fashion Excellence on Friday
Right now through May 2, Sebastian Grey Clothiers
holds a flash sale to benefit the Cara Program
, a local job training and placement initiative. The store will match every purchase made during the sale and will also donate a shirt, tie, or pocket square. Prices are lowered significantly for the event: custom suits start at $587 (normally $899), custom shirts at $97 (down from $159) and ties start at $35 (down from $50). It's happening at all three Sebastian Grey locations: 70 W. Madison, 1351 S. Michigan, and 654 W. Diversey.
It's pricey to attend the 11th annual Driehaus Awards for Fashion Excellence—tickets start at $175—but you'll have the satisfaction of supporting talented fashion design students from local institutions as they work toward stardom—or at least self-sufficiency. The top three students receive cash prizes, and the winner gets a pop-up shop at Akira plus a mentorship with Akira owner Jon Cotay. It starts at 6 PM Friday at 700 S. Desplaines.
Krista K is closing its maternity and baby shop; stop in at 3530 N. Southport or go online for 20 percent off all items.
