Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson is notorious as a record collector—he's especially fond of esoteric sounds, particularly free improvisation, jazz, and experimental music. He once formed a group called Diskaholics Anonymous with fellow record fiends Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke, and they pressed one of their releases in a tiny edition expressly so that each member could trade his own copies to other collectors for super-rare titles. For years the saxophonist has devoted a section of his website to records he's looking for and items he's willing to trade for them. Now Gustafsson has taken his obsession public in a new way, with a site that draws on the interests and habits of record collectors of extreme music.

Discaholic Corner includes more of those vinyl wants, profiles of his favorite record shops, current recommendations, freewheeling interviews with other noted record collectors (including Moore, O'Rourke, John Corbett, and Byron Coley), and dozens of arcane vinyl-oriented lists from a variety of musicians and collectors, with titles like "5 Favorite Vinyls Based on Sentimental Value" (from bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten) to the simple "Best 5" (by Japan's Otomo Yoshihide). Other participants include Evan Parker, Steve Beresford, John Zorn, and C.M. Von Hausswolff. It looks like Gustafsson intends to update the site regularly, and some of the info on it will get record collectors and music fans salivating.
