As our new overlords reported today

- Now only serving the North Side!
, starting next spring, the CTA will shut down all Red Line service between Cermak and 95th-Dan Ryan for five months. This is being undertaken in order to completely rebuild that section of the line. Speaking of no alternative
, the other option is to work on weekends, meaning it would take four years to complete construction.
To alleviate the inconvenience caused by this construction, the CTA will be increasing its bus service on the south side to better shuttle pedestrians to Green Line stops. Because, after all, the buses are so efficient!
"This will obviously create significant impacts for commuters," CTA spokesman Brian Steele said. You don't say!
