Guest chefs Kevin Willmann, Greg Hardesty, and Clayton Chapman will be at Vie Restaurant for its Celebrity Chef Dinner, joining Vie chefs Paul Virant, Nathan Sears, and Elissa Narow. A sample course, prepared by Chapman: Wagyu collar with pastrami, pickled Nantes carrots, oyster mushrooms, cipollini onions, and Swiss chard. Call for reservations. Lincoln Square's inaugural Square Roots street festival features music, food, and craft beers from Finch's, Half Acre, 5 Rabbit, and more. The 11th annual Taste of River North begins today and features food from 15 local restaurants, among them Steve's Deli, 25 Degrees, and Kinzie Chophouse. In honor of its tenth anniversary, Drinking & Writing Theater begins a three-day celebration with a bus tour of Western, stopping at four bars. Ticket holders will be provided with Haymarket beer and will watch Drinking & Writing founders Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda's documentary The Western Avenue Pub Crawl on the bus; the duo will also lead the tour. Ticket are available online. Saturday's free event includes a panel of local chefs, who'll produce a beer recipe made especially for the anniversary.
