It's been a banner year for Chief Keef's Glory Boyz Entertainment crew, but they're not the only group of young up-and-comers working hard in the local rap scene. In particular the guys in the Brkf$t Club, a subgroup of a south suburb collective called 2008ighties, are responsible for some interesting projects to come out of the Chicagoland area this year; tonight the entire Brkf$t Club will headline Reggie's Rock Club and perform a year's worth of solo and group cuts.

The crew—that's Calez, Legit, Fonz-E Mak, UG, Johnny St. Cloud, and recent Stones Throw signee Julian Malone—are responsible for a lot of work this year, and a lot of it is worth your time. I recommend checking out Calez's Kid With Raps, Malone's Enemy: The Time & Loves of Malone, and Legit's Feliz Sabado, a collection of all the tracks he dropped on Saturdays throughout the summer. But one of my favorite things to come from the collective this past year was actually a group effort: it's the video for a Brkf$t Club track called "The Fellowship."

"The Fellowship" is a great track on its own thanks to a Grizzly Bear sample and a sprinkling of 808 drums, but the crew's video is a pretty entertaining foil to the track; the camera spins in a circle to capture the MCs as they spit their lines and grab picture frames, weights, and other objects littering the cluttered basement that is the crew's video set.

This city's rap scene has churned out plenty of great DIY rap videos this year—DGainz in particular has made a career out of producing raw street rap clips such as his visuals for Chief Keef's "I Don't Like." But the Brkf$t Club's "The Fellowship" really stands out above many other indie hip-hop visuals cluttering YouTube; that's largely because the group came up with such a simple concept and stuck the landing with all the fun visual gags that fill the clip. It's no wonder "The Fellowship" was up for MTVU's weekly "Best Freshman Video" showdown back in June.

The dudes decided to do a riff on "The Fellowship" to advertise for tonight's show, which you can check out below.
