  • The B Side cover for last year's Pitchfork Fest. Wait till this year's comes out.
Just a short while ago Pitchfork announced the final list of acts slated to play its music festival in July. The new additions include safe fest veterans (Toro y Moi, Woods), hot buzz acts (Parquet Courts, Autre Ne Veut), indie heavyweights (Low, Wire, Yo La Tengo), a couple unexpected pop artists (M.I.A. and Solange), and Lil B. Also Gossip Wolf correctly predicted that Toronto grunge dudes Metz and Florida postpunks Merchandise would find their way on the bill; the Reader's hairy Nostradamus also foresaw that local singer-songwriter Angel Olsen and alt-rock radio staples the Breeders would perform before those acts officially got added to the bill.

I'm looking forward to seeing several acts every day, but Sunday's lineup looks particularly stacked, especially with M.I.A. playing second-tier headliner to R. Kelly. (Check out the full lineup and daily breakdown at the end of this post.) The fest is unfortunately light on local acts; juke mastermind DJ Rashad joins the aforementioned Olsen and soul-trap originator MC Tree as our city's representatives, and I worry that Rashad and Tree may both be scheduled to play just after the gates open Sunday. (I'm not counting R. Kelly as a representative of Chicago since at this point he basically just represents himself.) There are a handful of groups swinging through town before the fest; next month Vancouver punks White Lung will play the Bottle, which will also host garage wunderkind Mikal Cronin in June (that show was removed from the Bottle's site, but the listing should reappear at the end of the week).

There's still a lot to process about the final Pitchfork lineup, but at least three-day passes and single-day tickets are still available from Ticketweb. Take in the full lineup below (and links to related Reader features and writeups) and get ready for summer festival season:
