According to its website, the festival aims to "show new films by Bosnia and Herzegovinia's emerging directors and revive a few classics unknown to American audiences" (although this year's program features only new works). It also aspires to "increase the visibility of the Chicago community of Bosnians and Herzegovinians, the largest in the United States." Given the size of the local population, these screenings are likely to be well-attended, ditto the postfestival concert at Lincoln Square's Cafe Bel-Ami on Saturday night. As much as movies can teach you about foreign cultures, it's also nice to encounter them in the flesh.
