Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered:

Do you feel that a regular river cruise lacks a certain amount of . . . drama? Maybe you should try the Opera Underground Cruise, where there will be death, betrayal, murder, and, of course, true love, all in the form of great arias sung by alumni of Chicago Opera Theater's Young Artists Program. Board the boat at 800 S. Wells.

The legend goes that New Orleans folk singer Mary Gauthier didn't write her first song until she was 35, after getting sober. The 51-year-old's raspy, unglamorous storytelling now enjoys critical acclaim, including praise from Peter Margasak. She performs at City Winery tonight.

Listen to two authors talk in City Lit Books' latest installment of Two Authors Talking, which brings together Chicago's Kyle Beachy (The Slide) and New York's Amy Shearn, who recently published The Mermaid of Brooklyn.
