Get real, you're not running the 17th annual Chicago Half Marathon. But visiting Jackson Park (6300 S. Lake Shore) and cheering on stronger-willed strangers with the resolve to run 13.1 miles of Lake Shore Drive on a crisp, late-summer morning does sound inspiring. Camping out at a bar close to nearby Soldier Field and watching the Bears noontime regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals sounds inspiring, too.
If you always imagined that heaven was a place filled with things like handmade stuffed animals, jewelry carved from wood, and felt brooches and headpieces, then the Renegade Craft Fair sure sounds a lot like heaven. Indie crafters from all over the country come to hawk their wares at the enormous annual outdoor market in Wicker Park, and we all try not to go broke.
Tonight's the final night of the Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival. Headlining the program is the U.S. premiere of Gabe Klinger's film Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater, a documentary about the two filmmakers. Ben Sachs has more.
