Traversing soggy Washington Park on foot to get from one to the other? Another matter. (Though there was a bus on hand.)
The double-venue exhibit features work by the five artists in residence for 2012-'13 under the university's—hang on —Arts + Public Life/Center for the Study of Race, Politics & Culture program. They are musician and composer Leroy Bach, photographer Cecil McDonald Jr., cellist and composer Tomeka Reid, filmmaker Cauleen Smith, and writer and performer Avery R. Young.
Cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm and sound manipulator Alex Inglizian were handling the Logan Center half of a simultaneous dual-location/live web-stream performance of Reid's improvisational Washington Park Suite when I got there. (It was sonorous, salted with spoken word.) Behind them, a wall of handsome photographs from McDonald's Nice and Slow series.
The exhibition continues through September 29. The Arts Incubator is located at 301 E. Garfield, the Logan Center at 915 E. 60th.
