One of my favorite bands out of Cleveland right now is Pleasure Leftists, a four-piece who have caught onto the goth/new wave revival and do it better than pretty much anyone else out there. Last month they released a self-titled 12-inch EP on the usually hardcore-leaning Deranged Records, and today's 12 O'Clock Track is the disc's highlight, "Not Over." Hi-hat-heavy disco beats anchor chorus-soaked basslines and emulate the silky-smooth and rock-solid rhythm section of Stephen Morris and Peter Hook while forlorn guitar fills in the sonic space, loose and jangly. The true highlight of this band is vocalist Haley Morris, whose dramatic, chilling wail sounds just like Siouxsie Sioux—while listening to this EP, you'd half expect "Spellbound" to come on next.

Pleasure Leftists play Chicago fairly frequently, so keep an eye out for them.
