After reading about that nice birthday award the Chicago Cultural Plan got from the Metropolitan Planning Council, Mike Stephen of Outside the Loop Radio checked in with me about the plan's progress.

Outside the Loop airs on WLUW-FM (88.7) at 10 AM every Thursday, and our chat, taped earlier, was broadcast yesterday.

Maybe you were in a meeting at that time, as I was, and think you have an ironclad excuse for never hearing it?

Wrong. Thanks to the miracle of the Internet, it's available here, forever.

Stephen had some good questions, like "Who's going to pay for this?" And if you hang in after I mumble my sign-off, you'll get to hear from Sam Isenstein, who has dreamed up the GloVentra, a piece of clothing that'll allow you to wear your transit card on the back of your hand.

Next: the implant.
