Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered.

It's night one of Off the Wall Cabaret, a four-night extravaganza of music, dance, spoken word, and mixed-media installations curated by performance artist Holly Hughes. Actress-singer Erin Markey and performance artist Joseph Keckler headline each show, but you can expect appearances from all sorts of talent, including local storyteller Shannon Cason and choreographer Amy Chavasse. See it all at Constellation's Links Hall.

"Come for the film, stay for the fight!" Ron Falzone, associate professor at Columbia College, hosts this edition of Cinema Slapdown, a screening at Film Row Cinema followed by a spirited debate. This edition features Columbia College president Kwang-Wu Kim and Columbia College faculty member Bruce Sheridan discussing Sam Mendes's Skyfall.

Time Out Chicago's Laura Pearson leads a conversation with Karen Russell, author of Vampires in the Lemon Grove, at Chicago Temple, First United Methodist Church.
