There'll be capes and tights aplenty at today's opening of the annual Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). A photo op with comic legend Stan Lee, a Quidditch demonstration, and a meetup with Star Wars costuming experts Rebel Legion are all among the 145 events happening today. (Actually, there are infinitely more than that if you factor in alternate realities. Check out the presentation on "The Theoretical and Literary Multiverse for Nerds and Geeks Alike" for details.)
Sean Flannery is the creator and host of the "boozy" The Blackout Diaries and, according to Rooftop Comedy, "that guy at your party you have to ask to leave because it's 5 AM and he's eating your condiments." Tonight and tomorrow night at more reasonable hours, he performs PowerPoint-enhanced standup at the Comedy Bar.
The cover of Behemoth's subtly titled new album, The Satanist (not to be confused with 1999's Satanica) was partially painted in blood from lead singer Nerga, who was recently acquitted of blasphemy charges in the band's native Poland. Tonight they bring their brand of metal to the House of Blues as part of the Metal Alliance Tour. Expect them to shred their way through wholesome, feel-good tracks like "In the Absence Ov Light" and "Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer" and maybe a few Bibles to boot.
