Late Night Teatro Vista is a weekly series at Victory Gardens Theater that highlights up-and-coming Hispanic-American artists working in music, improv, spoken word, and theater. Tonight's opening festivities feature NoFilter, an evening of uncensored first-person monologues and storytelling.
Erika Sheffer's Russian Transport, a play about a Russian Jewish family living in a Brooklyn apartment infected with a virus (a figurative one), continues tonight at Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre. Our senior theater critic, Tony Adler, calls it "raw, strong, disturbingly funny."
Acoustic ensemble Dawn of Midi opens for Circuit des Yeux tonight at Hideout. Comprised of former students at CalArts, the group "comes off as a piano trio tackling the catalog of minimal techno label Kompakt or covering classic Neu! tracks, except that every element of the players' insinuating matrix of cycling patterns is changing all the time," writes Peter Margasak in Soundboard.
