Looking for something to do today? Agenda's got you covered.

You needn't fear the usual Navy Pier fireworks crowd this year; Freedom Fest should keep you out of the fray. Located on the pier's rooftop, the fest will have barbecue, a full bar, and a DJ. And, of course, there will be fireworks.

If airborne explosions aren't your thing, you can venture indoors for a viewing of John Hubley's classic cartoons, which use jazz and modernist technique to address issues like war, consumerism, and other mid-20th century issues. Still, the films are captivating and fascinating. Included in the program are films Tender Game (1958), The Hat (1964), and Of Men and Demons (1968).

A new three-day music festival looks to join the ranks of Chicago's hot summer lineup with the Riverwest Music Festival kicking off today. The music is exclusively EDM and tonight features DJs Koze and Henrik Schwarz. Tal Rosenberg writes, "Koze, fresh off the success of his minimal-house masterpiece Amygdala (Pampa), can be counted on to spin an unpredictable set of joyous, sensual music that spans several genres."
