Wild Beasts were one of my favorite acts at the Pitchfork Music Festival this past weekend. I wrote in my Saturday recap that the band's set was so seamless and airtight that it only added to their already slick demeanor, each member of the foursome working in a cool slow motion (triumphant fist pumps included). I've probably told someone at some point that their most recent album, Present Tense, isn't my favorite in their catalog. By no means is it a misstep—absolutely not—it's just heavier on dark electro and lighter on the rock, and I typically like more electric guitar than not. But today's 12 O'Clock Track—and the album's best single—"Wanderlust," is so stunning and driving that it's making me change my mind. The well-produced video below—make note of the nearly one million views—adds to the track's theatricality and luster as it culminates with four characters breaking down as Hayden Thorpe chillingly repeats the kicker "Don't confuse me with someone who gives a fuck."
