Son of a Gun will be celebrating the release of their first LP, a rowdy exercise in punked-up, hyperspirited garage rock. Postpunkers Negative Scanner will be unleashing their second EP of the year (the other is out on Trouble in Mind Records). Hollow Mountain, one of my favorite local acts, will have their debut seven-inch on hand, a razor-sharp document of what it sounds like when the Ramones and Black Sabbath smash together head-on. Last but not least there's local trio the Bingers, a fuzzy, blown-out sugary pop explosion, who will have their debut seven-inch for sale as well. And because why not, the whole shebang will be opened by Comm to Black, a one-song cover band that features Sullivan himself, who will play a really, really long version of the MC5 tune "Black to Comm"; this set will be their second and last-ever show. Things kick off at 9 PM, and if you e-mail the venue at RSVP@emptybottle.com, you can get in for free—and free is good when you consider all the records you're going to be buying at this thing.
