You could be walking in a winter wonderland inside Navy Pier.
Time to plan the week. Here' s some of what we recommend:
The latest in a series presented by the Reader
, Reserve Your Seat
is a dining event featuring a mouthwatering four-course prix fixe menu created by RM Champagne Salon chef Anthony Dirienzo, paired with Woodford Reserve cocktails. 6:30 PM
Navy Pier (600 E. Grand) transforms into an indoor winter amusement park complete with a Ferris wheel, climbing wall, and ice-skating rink for Winter Wonderfest
. Sun-Thu 10 AM-8 PM, Fri-Sat 10 AM-10 PM
Madison-born weed lobbyists Bongzilla
are now back from the dead following a six-year hiatus, and tonight they play at 1st Ward (2033 W. North). Kevin Warwick writes, "the stoner foursome have long dug deep trenches in slow-going but buoyant rhythms, dealing out swampy doom riffs that cycle through measures with the urgency of a three-toed sloth." 8 PM
Prove you know everything about the show about nothing at An Airing of Grievances: Seinfeld Trivia
at Reed's Local (3017 W. Belmont). The winners receive a special holiday gift: their very own Festivus pole. 7 PM
Chicago expat Cameron Esposito
returns tonight to tape her new stand-up special at Thalia Hall (1227 W. 18th) along with fellow comedian (and soon-to-be wife) Rhea Butcher. 8 and 10:30 PM
Through 12/19: "I Can't Breathe"
is a group show at Arc Gallery (2156 N. Damen) focusing on recent instances of racism and issues of cultural ignorance and denial. Deanna Isaacs writes, "This exhibit, which could just as well be called '16 Shots,' is appallingly timely." Curated by Romi Crawford and Mary Patten, it features work in multiple media by dozens of artists from around the U.S. and beyond.
