This weekend, Pilsen's Thalia Hall hosts Levitation Chicago, the second edition of the midwestern satellite of the Texas-based festival formerly known as Austin Psych Fest. From Thursday, March 10, through Saturday, March 12, no fewer than 18 of the freakiest and most far-out acts around will grace Thalia's stage. Reader writers have covered some of the festival's performers already (including Israeli shoegazers Vaadat Charigim, scuzz-rock pioneers Royal Trux, and German experimental collective Faust), but they've only scratched the surface of these massive lineups. Check out who else is playing below. Levitation Chicago is not messing around:

Thursday's show kicks off with a set by Eartheater, the psychedelic solo project of Guardian Alien front woman Alexandra Drewchin, followed by noise-rockers Health and headlining experimental electronics artist Oneohtrix Point Never, among others.

Direct support for Friday's headliner, Royal Trux, comes from the most important noise band in the world, cataclysmic drums-and-bass duo Lightning Bolt. Local folk-guitar wizard Ryley Walker, electronic drone project Blanck Mass, and spacey Australian postpunks Nite Fields are also among the bands appearing.

Doom-folk singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe headlines Saturday, the festival's closing night. Openers include stoner-prog instrumentalists Earthless, garage-psych outfit Night Beats, unearthly local singer Circuit des Yeux, and indie rockers Methyl Ethel.

All shows are 17 and up. Three-day passes are sold out, but tickets for individual nights are still for sale; you can buy those at Thalia Hall's website.
