I worked as a Reader staffer from March 1998 to December 2012. Currently I'm a happy freelancer for the paper. My interest in the local literary scene has led me to interview writers like Miles Harvey, Gillian Flynn, Goldie Goldbloom, and Irvine Welsh, and I once blogged about an author's sport coat. Occasionally I blog on the Bleader. I have an English degree from the University of Illinois, though I consider tending bar for many years to be an equally vital part of my education. I can make a mean manhattan.
