Basically that means I’m responsible for products and strategy relating to anything we do online, on chicagoreader.com and beyond—but not the content of editorial coverage.
We are a small shop, so I am also the lead on most aspects of IT and user support.
In these difficult times, I have recently been doing such fun things as figuring out how to do listings of canceled events and, later, listings of streaming events on this site. Recently, have helped get far-off streaming Early Warnings events included on the Early Warnings page—and easier to include in print.
I have been so in to staying at home recently, I've even contributed day 39 (with Tino) , day 53 (with Ella), and day 67 of the Reader’s stay-at-home chronicles. (This doesn't look set to be over soon, so probably more to come!)
I've also been helping out with all the ways to support the Reader, including getting the Chicago Independent Media Alliance (CIMA) up and running, including on various platforms, and helping take care of the Chicago Reader - COVID-19 Local News Fund.
Not too long ago, I wrote up a roundup of the Reader’s most-read stories of 2018 and did an item on local coffee subscriptions in the 2018 holiday gift guide.
The Reader brought home some AAN Awards.
