101 Ways to Fall in Love The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 22 2014

The setup is fun, anyway: Andy (Tim Lee), a writer going through a divorce, has to tell the real-life romance stories collected by writers Jason B. Williams and Noelle A. Schmitt from friends and others. Some of the most fun are the quirkiest—a long-distance couple wholly dependent on Skype, an Election Day hookup that turns into a delusional case of unrequited love. Still, the funny bits don’t justify the two-and-a-half-hour running time, which includes absurd detours into a ridiculously cloying conclusion. Studio BE is BYOB, so perhaps the "target audience of hip-20somethings" (lots of metacommentary on that) is meant to be drunk enough not to notice such flaws. This sober somethingsomething wasn't so forgiving. —Suzanne Scanlon
