Chicago-based Openlands, one of the nation’s oldest and most successful urban conservation organizations, hosts its Annual Luncheon on Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Fairmont Chicago. The keynote speaker for the 2009 Annual Luncheon is Rick Bayless, founder of Chicago’s acclaimed Frontera Grill. Rick has also been an advocate for the local sustainable food movement, encouraging organic farming in and around the city and establishing the Frontera Farmer foundation in 2003. Openlands will also honor Bill Kurtis and Donna LaPietra with its 2009 Conservation Leadership Award. Among their many accomplishments, Bill and Donna serve on the board for Chicago’s Green City Market.
