2010 King Day Celebration Opening (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

This day of activities honoring the late Martin Luther King Jr., features performances, film screenings, and more. Theater offerings include Victory Gardens Theater’s staged reading of Tanya Barfield’s play Blue Door, the Hansberry Baldwin Ensemble’s production of To Be Young, Gifted & Black, and Meet Dr. King with Marcus Gentry. Dance performances include the RH School of Performing Arts’ Let Freedom Ring and A Drum Major for Justice by the Imani African Dance & Drum Troupe. On the storytelling side are The Dream Maker, presented by Gwen Hilary and Enoch Williamson, and A Quest for Freedom, featuring Kucha Brownlee and Tony Brown.
