Summerfest on the Slope

Singer and songwriter Brian Youmans was the 15-year-old son of a preacher man when he put together the band that took Trinket for its name. "My hero at the time was Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction," Youmans says. "He said, 'If the crowd's not listening, pull your pants down to get their attention.'" Don't know if Youmans will moon the audience at Four Lakes Summerfest on the Slope, but there'll be plenty of music to keep the crowd alert. Local bands Underwater People, Hello Dave, and Bumpus are scheduled to appear along with Trinket and headliners 10,000 Maniacs. Four Lakes' ski slope will be transformed into a concert venue for the seven-hour fest, which will offer brats, burgers, pizza, beer, and a grand-prize giveaway of a year's free rent at the 300-acre housing complex. It starts at 3 PM Saturday, August 26, at Four Lakes Village, 5800 Forest View Road (Route 53 and Maple) in Lisle. Tickets are $10 in advance (at Four Lakes or through Ticketmaster, 312-559-1212) or $15 at the door. Call 630-964-6805 for more information.
