44 Ways to End Your Sex Life Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through April 5 2014

This Redtwist Theatre production isn't the advertised examination of "the many ways a poor guy—yes, of course, it's always the guy—can screw up his love life" so much as a series of glimpses into relationships in various stages of conflict or deterioration. Depressing as that sounds, it's fairly funny—especially given how much the show tends to rely on tired stereotypes. Trying to seduce Deborah, a Catholic girl who's resisting on the grounds that God is watching, an unnamed guy asks, "You mean to tell me that God is focused on your vagina?" While the script isn’t particularly insightful or nuanced, the cast is energetic and charming. The most entertaining scenes involve choreography and songs: one couple’s foreplay includes dancing to "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" while another woman tells her partner that he gave her gonorrhea in an original song to the tune of "Eleanor Rigby." —Julia Thiel
