90 Days

Modest and droll, this Canadian comedy is centered on two hapless males: Blue (Stefan Wodoslawsky), a shy romantic who has ordered a Korean bride by mail and has 90 days to decide if he wants to marry her, and Alex (Sam Grana), a blustering womanizer who finds himself on the other side of the fence when a lady lawyer approaches him with an offer to purchase his sperm on behalf of a client—if he measures up to certain requirements. Director Giles Walker, a refugee from the National Film Board of Canada's documentary division, works in a warm, relaxed style, diffusing the sex-farce conventions of the plotting (and some slightly too clever writing) by granting his characters the time and space to acquire a measure of reality. The cinematic interest isn't high, but this one's a real crowd pleaser.
