A Charlie Brown Christmas | Chicago Reader

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Produced in 1965, this 25-minute TV special was the first animated cartoon drawn from Charles Schulz's Peanuts, and it remains the most affecting. The satire of holiday commercialism isn't as sharp now that Snoopy works for MetLife, but Linus's recitation from the Book of Luke is more startling than ever.
