A Child's Christmas in Space All Ages Recommended Soundboard

When: Sat., Dec. 15, 4 p.m. 2012

The Hideout Christmas panto has been such a success that even if it ended entirely I suspect that Jon Langford would keep on wearing a dress and makeup and falsies for holiday parties, just for the hell of it. This year the troupe is presenting a slightly scaled-down show—it won't have the, er, production values of cast-of-thousands extravaganzas such as the Pyrate Panto, last year's Egyptian-themed Indiana Jones-style epic, or my personal favorite, the one with Vikings and Daleks. Still, Langford and collaborator Martin Billheimer (Tickelpenny, Black Nag) promise to make something unforgettable out of A Child's Christmas in Space—which appears to riff on both the classic Dylan Thomas story "A Child's Christmas in Wales" and the classically terrible movie Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. They're presenting two versions, one family friendly and the other for adults only; I always recommend the latter, but really, you can't go wrong. The kids' version is always fun just because of how much the kids enjoy it. —Monica Kendrick The adults-only version of the show, XXXmas in Space, is at 8 PM at the Hideout and costs $10.

Price: $5-$15
