Crazed sex addicts and defiant bluenoses duke it out on the streets of Baltimore in this predictable outrage from John Waters. Ever since Hairspray (1988), his big crossover success, the sultan of sleaze has seemed more irrelevant with each picture—like the aging gunslinger in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, he's won the west but become a poignant anachronism in the process. Tracey Ullman stars as a prudish mother at war with her libido, and Selma Blair is her slutty daughter, whose surgically enhanced breasts are the size of watermelons. This is rated NC-17, but it's about as dangerous as a skit at the Elks Club. NC-17, 89 min.
