Dear Monica Kendrick,

I can respect your feelings about Motorhead and W.A.S.P. [Rock, Etc., July 4]. But you could at least get the story straight. You might not like or appreciate W.A.S.P., but if you are going to slam them, it should be with all of your facts straight. If you "understood [them] to suck" as you state in your article, that implies that you have no firsthand knowledge of them or their music. If you actually picked up their recent album, you would see that "Kill! Fuck! Die!" is not a cheesy rock anthem, but a concept behind the album. If Tipper Gore was their best publicist, how come they have continued on while the PMRC has gone to ashes? W.A.S.P. has inspired many rock wannabes, including the likes of Marilyn Manson. As far as I'm concerned, Blackie Lawless could eat Trent Reznor for breakfast without a problem!

On a final note before I have to go back to work, I stayed around after the show and met W.A.S.P. Blackie was one of the nicest and most down-to-earth musicians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting (who'd have thought!). There were many W.A.S.P. fans that waited around after the show despite no encore. And FYI, we were all screaming "Blackie! Blackie! Blackie!" not "Lemmy!" after W.A.S.P.'s set. Please get a clue, and don't blaspheme W.A.S.P. unless you know what you are talking about.

Blackie Lawless rules!
