All for Free

After losing his two best friends in a barroom shooting, a young Bosnian impulsively buys an old man's lunch wagon and sets off on a quixotic road trip, driving from town to town and giving away food and drink to people on the street. Naturally, in the wake of the Balkans conflicts, such beneficence is immediately cause for suspicion. First-time writer-director Antonio Nuic strikes a gently melancholic tone, one that seems entirely in keeping with his country's emotional exhaustion. In Bosnian with subtitles. 94 min.
