I found the article "Why Did Pieter Die?" [March 19] interesting for many reasons, of which I will only state two. It showed a glimpse of how professionals ranging from teachers, psychologists, and psychiatrists would reach "such divergent opinions" about Pieter Badenhorst. It revealed that Mary-Anne Badenhorst is a remarkable person who was also a loving and patient mother to Pieter. I believe that this society, this world, is still in the early stages of understanding, comprehending, and handling the special needs of those labeled with "severe learning disabilities." I just found the article by Emily Krone well-written and insightful.
