Alsino and the Condor

Exiled Chilean filmmaker Miguel Littin (The Jackal of Nahueltoro) made this 1982 feature in Nicaragua, with financing from Mexico, Costa Rica, and Cuba. It's about a 12-year-old peasant boy (Alan Esquivel) who witnesses the horrors of war. Dean Stockwell, who played a role similar to Esquivel's in Joseph Losey's The Boy With Green Hair (1948), costars as an American military adviser who tries to befriend the child. R, 89 min.
